The Museum of Tarrassa is a whole complex of buildings in the city of Tarrassa, among which are amazing sights, historical and architectural monuments. The main element of the museum is the Valparadis castle-monastery, built in the 12th century as a defensive structure and later, in the 14-15th centuries, turned into a religious complex. In 1959, the Municipal Art Museum was housed in its walls, and today there is a permanent exhibition on the history of the development of Tarrassa from the Neolithic to the present day.

Another part of the Tarrassa Museum is the monumental church complex of San Pedro, which consists of three temples - San Per, San Miguel and Santa Maria. These churches were once part of the ancient diocese of Egar. In addition to interesting architecture and archaeological finds made at the site of the complex, here you can see a collection of Gothic works of art with the masterpieces of Jaime Uge, Lewis Borrass and Jaime Sirera.

The next element of the Tarrassa Museum is the Casa Alegre de Sagrera, the mansion of Joaquin Sagrera, the owner of weaving mills in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. This house, rebuilt in the Art Nouveau era, is an example of a middle class estate of that time. Inside is a collection of works by Alejandro de Ricoeur and Joaquin Vancelles, as well as a collection of oriental ceramics and Chinese porcelain. Particularly noteworthy are the halls dedicated to the writers of Augusti Bartar and Ferrand Cañameres and the artist Mateu Avellaneda.

The museum also includes an old palace tower - all that remains of the castle of Tarrassa. Until the beginning of the 19th century, this tower housed a prison. In 1891, the last owner of the castle decided to demolish the entire structure, and only the tower was preserved. In 1994, it passed into the ownership of the municipality, today you can get inside only by appointment.

Finally, an important part of the Tarrassa Museum is the Monastery of San Francisco, a Baroque building dating from the early 17th century. Today, only the church building, cloister and some extensions are preserved. The cloister, with its walls covered with colored ceramic panels, is the most prominent part of the monastery.
